During this 2-hour workshop, two leading Czech puppeteers will show you how!

Description of workshop
Recently we have had many students make puppets with us online. And now they are asking... how do I make a show?
We have invited Dora Bouzkova and Zuzana Bruknerova - two leading Czech puppeteers - to help students get started.
They will talk aobut the important aspects of performing with a puppet vs. live acting (and how the two can interact), how to structure a story, what practicalities should be considered (space, age of audience, number of performers...), use of language and symbols, and music.
They will focus on how to create a show with 1-2 puppeteers. Students will get access to a recording of the session. We will also send you videos of some exemplary puppet shows in advance of the workshop.

Teacher
Dora Bouzkova
Dora was recently nominated as the best actor in the category of puppetry by the Czech Thalia awards (the Czech version of the American Tony awards). She founded the company Puppets Without Borders and is well known for her performances, workshops with children and Day of the Dead Festivals. She has a PhD in puppetry from the Prague Theatre Academy (DAMU) and has taught for numerous Puppets in Prague workshops.
Zuzana Bruknerova
Zuzana is a founding member of the award-winning professional puppet company Buchty a Loutky (Buns and Puppets). The company has created over sixty shows for children and adults, and their shows are known for their humor, their appeal to all age groups and their nontraditional approach to traditional puppetry. She studied puppet acting at the Prague Theatre Academy (DAMU) and has also taught for Puppets in Prague for years.
