Puppets and Memory

August 2, 7 - 9 p.m. CET

Don't miss the chance to meet one of the Czech Republic's most exciting artists! Dora Bouzková is a puppeteer, performer, director, and educator. Her productions are characterized by their personal storytelling, often addressing themes of memory, identity, family, and community.

At our August Puppet Recipe, we're thrilled to have Dora talk about her work, including her most recent piece, a Czech-German project about the tumultuous history of the area on the border. How can puppetry help bring back stories from the past so that they are relevant to people today?

In 2001, she founded, Puppets Without Borders (Loutky bez hranic), known for their original productions, workshops, and community projects. She won 2022 ASSITEJ Czech Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theatre for Young Audiences, was nominated for Thalia, the top Czech theatre award, and has won numerous international festival awards for her performances and productions.

Dora was a student at Puppets in Prague in 2002. Since then she has taught manipulation, puppet dramaturgy, and directed numerous shows with our students.

Come and find out how she develops her projects in a discussion at our latest Puppet Recipe!

WHAT ARE PUPPET RECIPES?

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are creating a new subscription series: Puppets Recipes. Every month we have live workshops on Zoom where you get a "recipe" with instructions on how to build a different kind of puppet.
