Automata 1, Part 1: Simple mechanisms

About the Workshop

To launch our 2026-7 Automata Series of workshops, we are offering the first for FREE! Learn how to make simple mechanisms from Automata and learn about our plans for the entire year. This introductory unit will teach you several simple automata that you can easily make at home with scrap wood, clothespins, and other materials that are easily sourced. We will be inspired by works of many automata makers. If you sign up for the second session, Simple Mechanics Part 2, you can construct a prototype and present it at the second session on October 4 Our full Automata Fundamentals Course will run from September 2025 to April 2026. It will be taught by Mirek Trejtnar, expert woodcarver, toymaker and automata builder. You will get regular consultations at this highly individualized course. You will also see the work of fellow students throughout the course. You can sign up for individual modules or the entire course. FOR WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP INTENDED?
