About the Workshop
Push your boundries! Join a group of PIP enthusiasts and make a prototype of an automata every 2 months. Everyone will work on the below themes. Each person will come up with their own solution. On the due date, we will meet on Zoom and share prototypes with each other, talking about different approaches, solutions and, yes, failures. Mirek Trejtnar will have technical suggestions for each mechanism. CHALLENGES FOR 2026/27 CHALLENGE 1: Man and spaghetti, possibly inspired by Paul Spooner's iconic piece (but not necessarily) Due November 7 CHALLENGE 2: A Nightmare (just in time for the new year) Due January 3 CHALLENGE 3: Peep box with a fairy tale inside - inspired by Pavel Macek. Due February 21 CHALLENGE 4. To be determined by the group, Due April 10 CHALLENGE 5: Present a FINISHED version of one of the automata Due May 30 WHEN WILL WE MEET? We will meet on Zoom at 9 p.m. Central European Time / 3 p.m. EST FOR WHOM IS THIS INTENDED? Builders with some experience building automata or a lot of enthusiasm and courage!
