About the Workshop

Get the skills, knowledge and confidence to build your own unique automata. You can sign up for the FULL COURSE or individual modules separately (see listings for individual modules on workshop page). Module 1: Simple mechanisms (September 20 + Oct 4) Module 2: Jumping mechanisms (October 18 + November 1) Module 3: Waves mechanisms (November 15 + December 6 ) Module 4: Adding sound, light, electricity to Automata (January 10 + 24) Module 5: Crankshaft mechanism (February 7, Feb 21) Module 6: Gears (March 14, 28) Module 7: Final Projects (April 11, 25) At the first session of each module, you will learn the techniques. Between sessions you will construct a prototype. In the final module, work on a final project that combines different mechanisms. Classes meet on Zoom from 7-9 p.m. Central European Time. Students can ask questions about the progress of their projects and share ideas with each other. All sessions will be recorded in case someone is not able to attend live. The course is taught by Mirek Trejtnar, expert woodcarver, toymaker and automata builder. You get regular consultations at this highly individualized course. FOR WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP INTENDED? If you cancel a more than 1 month before the start of the workshop, you can transfer the fee to another PIP workshop. If for any reason PIP needs to cancel the course, you will get a full refund.
