About the Workshop
Create a wooden marionette of your design, on wire or strings. Students work under many puppet masters to learn techniques of designing puppets, making technical drawings, woodcarving, painting, and designing a puppet costume, plus how to manipulate puppets and Czech puppet history. You will also see Czech puppet shows, festivals and exhibitions and visit puppet studios. Each student will go home with an original hand-carved marionette - plus the skills to make more. All in a beautiful European city with a rich puppet tradition still very much alive. WORKSHOP FEE The price is 1,200 Euro. Price includes all materials and also tickets to museums and puppet shows. Payment to be made upon acceptance to the workshop. DAILY SCHEDULE The daily schedule is intensive: students work all day on their puppets and often attend puppet theatre performances in the evenings. The workshop includes 1-2 days on puppet manipulation at the end. There will be 2 days off to see Prague. ACCOMMODATIONS/FOOD Accommodations with shared bathroom facilities can be arranged in Pension Jana, a comfortable, clean hostel located in a residential area 5 minutes from the workshop. Participants can cook meals in a small kitchen in the workshop, or eat in local Czech restaurants (approx. 12 Euro for lunch). CANCELLATION POLICY The deposit is nonrefundable. If you cancel a more than 1 month before the start of the workshop, you can transfer the deposit to another PIP workshop ; you will be charged a 200 Euro fee and you will be charged for the price of the new workshop if the price changes. If for any reason PIP needs to cancel the course, you will get a full refund minus the bank transfer fees.
