About the Workshop

What do you need to consider when making a controller for your marionette? We will start with the basic Czech-style controllers for a human marionette, including the differences between a puppet on a wire vs. a puppet on strings. Then how to adjust your controller for special movements of hands and feet, moveable jaw, how to design a controller for an animal marionette, including how to add wings/tail/moveable jaw and how you can adjust it depending on its size, technology. To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are creating a new subscription series: Puppets Recipes. Every month we will have live workshops on Zoom where you will get a "recipe" with instructions on how to build a different kind of puppet. You will also get an "assignment" which you can work on and present to the group the following month, with feedback from Mirek and the other puppet cooks in the group.
