About the Workshop

Get inspired by the automata and mechanisms that Mirek saw at the Automata Fest in Hastings, UK organized by the famous Cabaret Mechanical Theatre. He met some of the most famous automata makers, including Paul Spooner, the Leonardo da Vinci of Automata, and got to explore how some of the makers constructed their ingenious pieces. You will see how some of the mechanisms work, from the very simple to the incredibly complex, and get Mirek's advice about how to create your own magical automata. RECIPE: Build a new automata mechanism To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are creating a new subscription series: Puppets Recipes. Every month we will have live workshops on Zoom where you will get a "recipe" with instructions on how to build a different kind of puppet. You will also get an "assignment" which you can work on and present to the group the following month, with feedback from Mirek and the other puppet cooks in the group.
