Automata 2: Jumping mechanisms
October 13 + November 3
About the Workshop
This module will teach you how to build a simple mechanism that is one of the most basic and effective techniques for building an automata - the jumping technique. It is part of our Full Online Automata course (which you can sign up for separately if you want to attend all of the modules). At the first session of this two-part module, you will learn the basic techniques. Between sessions you will construct a prototype and present it at the second session. Each session will be 2 hours and will meet on Zoom from 7-9 p.m. Central European Time. During the first half hour of the second session, students can ask questions about the progress of their projects and share ideas with each other. All sessions will be recorded in case someone is not able to attend live. The course will be taught by Mirek Trejtnar, expert woodcarver, toymaker and automata builder. You will get regular consultations at this highly individualized course. You will also see the work of fellow students throughout the course. FOR WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP INTENDED? Students should be comfortable working on their own and have some experience working with wood. If you have any questions, please email us at puppetsinprague@gmail.com. CANCELLATION POLICY The fee is nonrefundable. If you cancel a more than 1 month before the start of the workshop, you can transfer the fee to another PIP workshop. If for any reason PIP needs to cancel the course, you will get a full refund.
