Automata: One-Year Online Course

About the Workshop

Get the skills, knowledge and confidence to build your own unique automata, building several prototypes throughout the year and at the end, making a final design that incorporates all that you have learned. You will meet at live Zoom sessions every two weeks where you will learn new skills and get the chance to with Mirek Trejtnar, expert automata designer, and other students. You will get regular consultations at this highly individualized course. The course will be divided into three blocks. During the first block, you will learn the basic mechanisms. In the second two blocks, you will learn more complicated mechanisms that you will incorporate into your own designs, culminating in a final project. You will start with designs and prototypes, and ending with a professional quality automata. SCHEDULE We will meet every other week on Sundays, so you have time to complete tasks between sessions. There are a total of 18 sessions (each session will be 2 hours) which meet on Zoom from 7-9 p.m. Central European Time. All sessions will be recorded in case someone is not able to attend live. We will meet the following days (all Sundays from 7-9 p.m.): October 8, Oct 22, Nov 5, Nov 19, Dec 3, Dec 17, Jan 7, Jan 21, Feb 4, Feb 18, Mar 3, Mar 17, Mar 24, Apr 7, Apr 21, May 5, May 19, June 2 FOR WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP INTENDED? CANCELATION POLICY The fee is nonrefundable. If you cancel a more than 1 month before the start of the workshop, you can transfer the fee to another PIP workshop ; you will be charged a 200 Euro fee and you will be charged for the price of the new workshop if the price changes. If for any reason PIP needs to cancel the course, you will get a full refund minus the bank transfer fees.
