About the Workshop
Learn the Czech tradition of making exquisite toy puppet theatres, which dates back to the 1920s and create a show with the guidance of professional puppeteers. THE WORKSHOP HAS 2 PARTS: PART 1. BUILDING - SEPTEMBER - JANUARY : Make a puppet theatre based on historic Czech family theatres and three 25-cm wooden marionettes. There will be 9 sessions (each session will be 1.5 hours) PART 2: CREATE SHOW - JANUARY - MAY: Develop a story with a professional puppeteer. There will be 9 sessions (each session will be 1.5 hours) SCHEDULE - COMING SOON We will meet on Zoom, so you have time to complete tasks between sessions. All sessions will be recorded. There will be regular individual and group consultations, so you can learn from our expert team and also meet students from around the world. TENTATIVE DATES: Overview + Intro: Sept 5 Part 1, Building: Sept 19, Oct 3, 17, 31, Nov 14, 28, Dec 5, 13, Jan 9 Part 2, Making Show: Sept 5, Jan 23, Feb 6, 25, Mar 13, 27, Apr 10, 24, May 8 PUPPET KIT: (optional) Before the workshop starts, you can order pre-cut wooden blocks without joints + 3 controllers which we will send you. Price does NOT include shipping or wood for theatre. TOOLS AND MATERIALS You will need a collection of 3-5 chisels/carving tools and other basic tools. We will send you a list upon receipt of your application. You can also write us in advance with questions. FOR WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP INTENDED? WORKSHOP FEE Tuition: 760 Euros Puppet Kit (optional): 150 Euros (includes wooden blocks for 3 puppets sized 25 cm + controllers. Does NOT including shipping cost) Payment to be made upon acceptance to the workshop. CANCELATION POLICY The fee is nonrefundable. If you cancel a more than 1 month before the start of the workshop, you can transfer the fee to another PIP workshop ; you will be charged a 200 Euro fee and you will be charged for the price of the new workshop if the price changes. If for any reason PIP needs to cancel the course, you will get a full refund minus the bank transfer fees.
